Germanton Plein Air Workshop
Saturday, May 23, 2015
Join me at Germanton Gallery for a one day plein air workshop! This workshop is a short primer designed to kick-start your confidence for plein air painting in 2015. We will be concentrating on simplifying your subject and creating strong design in your painting. Germanton is a historic village located in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and provides a beautiful rural landscape for plein air painting. I hope you will join us!
Charleston Plein Air Workshop
October 2, 2015, through October 4, 2015
Come and join me again this year for a three day workshop this fall in historic Charleston and beautiful Sullivan's Island! In 2014, for the third straight year Charleston was voted the number one city in the United States and Canada by Travel and Leisure Magazine in its 2014 Worlds Best Awards! Not only will we paint in Charleston but we will also spend time capturing the beautiful coastal landscape of neighboring Sullivan's Island and Shem's Creek. Participants will spend time studying a variety of topics some of which includes: choosing your subject, design and drawing, and the importance of correct values. Special emphasis will be placed upon capturing light in your composition.
The French Quarter Art Walk happens that Friday night (October 2nd)! During this time I will also be having a show at Edward Dare Gallery on Gallery Row in Historic Charleston. If you have never experienced Charleston's art walk you are in for an amazing experience! Also, on the last day of the workshop we will finish up with a drawing for a small, framed, original oil painting that I am preparing to commemorate your time at the workshop. This promises to be a memorable end to a great week!
